The city of Torrevieja ("Old Tower") is located at the southern end of the Valencian community, approximately 50 km (30 miles) from Alicante. Thanks to Alicante's international airport you can have an easy access to Costa Blanca and Torrevieja area, one of the most popular vacation destination of the spanish coast, so we can find all tourist facilities you may need.

What to do: Torrevieja is well known for its role in the salt trade since the Roman times, and it still exports salt worlwide. The city is surrounded by two famous huge salt lakes (Torrevieja and La Mata). The lagoons ara a national park, where you can find more than 250 bird species. You can also take mud baths at the designated mud-bathing areas, highly recommended for their healing properties. And if you want to learn more about salt, you can also visit the Museum of Sea and Salt.

Torrevieja old town is quite charming, but not very calm, specially during summer season. There you can enjoy the 1880's church of the Immaculate Conception (Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción). You can also visit fishing and trading port, Torrevieja harbour, which was host of the most important fleet of saiboats on the Mediterranean sea (present time "just" around 350 fishing boats and a lot of interesting sport boats).

But the most famous thing to do in Torrevieja is to visit its well known beaches and to enjoy nightlife. Water is clear and sand is fine and golden, and local coves are interesting swimming spots. Costa Blanca boat tours ara available and a good option to enjoy the coast. And, as above mentioned, you can also take mud baths on the lagoon area. And concerning nightlife, during all summer you can find beach parties every day, specially fridays and saturdays.
