Founded in 1001 AD, the town of Lloret de Mar lies on the southerly part of the Costa Brava, adjacent to Blanes and Tossa de Mar.
With a deep seaside tradition, today it is one of the most important
tourist centres on Costa Brava's sea front.
Beaches with clear water combine with a wide rannge of accommodation and leisure. In fact, for a lot of people there's too much leisure in Lloret, so it's a perfect
place to have party but it is almost impossible to rest.
Terraces, bars and restaurants help you to enjoy the Costa Brava night.
What to see: We recommend the Lloret de Mar interesting historic centre,
a nice place to visit and stay. There is also a medieval fort on the outskirts of the town, the Saint Joan's castle (castell de sant Joan).
Modernism has beautiful examples in Lloret de Mar thanks to the works of
the Catalan architect Puig i Cadafalch, so we can enjoy the following modernist works:the hermitage of La Verge de Grącia, the pantheon of the Costa Macią in Lloret de Mar cemetery and the transept that leads to Sant
Pere del Bosc.
We also recommend to visit what many consider as Lloret's symbol, a bronze statue overlooking the town (the sculpture of a fisherman's wife called 'Dona Marinera') made in 1966 by Ernest
Maragall.
