L’Estartit is part of the municipality of Torroella de Montgrķ. Torroella de Montgri and l'Estartit are located on the North part of the Costa Brava, situated in an area of great diversity where you can find mountain and beaches, and where you can enjoy fantastic views over the bay and the Islas Medes (Medes Islands).

Once a medieval Costa Brava village surrounded by defence walls (the first documents from Torroella de Montgri date from the IX century, and five families were recorded in the XVIIIth century), nowadays l'Estartit is a calm tourist center in Costa Brava, thanks to its beautiful beaches, Medes Islands and its tourist facilities.

What to visit: Concerning L'Estartit, you can enjoy the fishing harbour (Passeig del Molinet promenade). You can also visit Santa Anna street where you can find Casas de los Americanos (American Houses), a nice colonial building, and la Torre del Rellotge (Watch Tower). Casa Salietti (Salietti House) is another interesting building.

What to do: Of course, you have to enjoy l'Estartit beach, a very long beach divided into three different sections: the central beach, Pletera beach and Griells beach. And, of course, if you go to L'escala you have to visit one of the most beautiful natural areas in the Spanish Coast: Islas Medes (Medes Islands).

Medes Islands is a set of seven islands (La Meda Gran, La Meda Petita, Tascons Grossos, Tascons Petits, Carall Bernat, El Medellot and les Ferranelles), an archipelago that has become a marine flora and fauna reserve. There, you can enjoy scuba-diving, or just visit the uninhabited islands and the Medes lighthouse (la Meda Gran island).
