Castelló d’Empúries is a nice village dated in the ninth century and located in the Gulf of Roses, near the mouth of the Muga river. Castelló d'Empúries became during the Middle Ages a very important Costa Brava town.

Empuriabrava is the residential area of Castelló d’Empúries located near the old town (the "Marina" of Empuriabrava) . Empuriabrava has a characteristic design due to its more than 20 km of navigable canals and its long sandy beaches. Thanks to this peculiar design Empuriabrava has all kind of tourist facilities: hotels, restaurants, water activities, sport harbour, nightlife...

What to visit: You can enjoy the medieval town of Castelló d'Empúries, with a a rich architectural heritage: porticoed squares and the Jewish quarter ("Call"), where you can visit the church of Santa Maria (Gothic church with a Romanesque belltower), the City Hall and the bridge of Pont Vell (Old Bridge).

What to do: We recommend to enjoy the Marina of Empuriabrava during the day (sea channels, nice beaches, water sports, Empuriabrava sunday flea market, restaurants...) and also during the summer nights (great nightlife). And if you visit Empuriabrava on September you can enjoy the "Terra de Trobadors" Festival, a medieval festival where you can find knight plays, handicraft arts, doll players, troubadour music concerts and a medieval market.

And, if you like nature, you can visit the Aiguamolls de l'Empordŕ (marshes), a very important Nature Reserve that has become an important rest point for birds that make long travels of intercontinental migration between the north of Africa and Europe.
